A-Rod = Scummier Than We Thought?

Just read some allegations about A-Rod, that he tipped pitches to opposing batters late in games, hoping that they'd one day return the favor when situations would be reversed. It's apparently called "slump insurance." Pad your stats in a blowout with your buddy's help.

SI.com story

To me, helping an opponent like this, even in a blowout, is about as scummy of a thing an athlete can do. At least steroids and HGH, you're breaking the rules in order to WIN.

DC Versus Returns

Whats good Whats good Whats good. Dueling Couches' Versus is back. The hiatus is my bad, i have a broken computer and im too lazy to use another. Regardless, DP finally got on my ass about writing a new edition and its one im pretty sure you're going to like....well everyone but maybe BMack. Simply because this segment features:
our very own BMack

Vs.

Meg Griffin

I know what your all thinking....'Woot, how can Bmack...a real person...possibly go up against a fictional animated character?' Well the answer is simple, cuz its funny, so fuck off.

Now, lets break this down.

Strength:
I have seen Bob in situations that require some exertion of strength, whether it be playing a game of backyard football, beating up his former roommate Beerman, and finally, although i did not witness it he engaged in bedroom activity with a female lacrosse goalie and future lesbian which would suggest he had to have a physical presence.

As far as Meg, she is one of the weakest characters in the show. She gets shit on every episode and simply put, spends more time running away, then being the aggressor.

Advantage Mack.

Next is a frequently overlooked element, and that is pent up aggression.

Bob Mack is so relaxed its retarded. I have never seen the man explode with any intense emotion. Instead he keeps it real and is upfront with shit, and brushes the rest off for the most part. But in a true battle, there is no way a man that looks like this can properly defend himself.

Meg has flipped out in the past. She has yelled, she has screamed, she has put her foot down at least a few times. Whatever reason, Meg has at least gotten some anger out in the form of brutal physical experiences.

So if it came down to it, here is my final decision. And this is kind of a cop out, but it is what i decided so once again, go fuck yourself. THAT BEING SAID, I have decided that they both would be victorious if they were to actual fight. If Bob was turned into a cartoon, i think Meg would whoop the shit out Bob, because becoming a cartoon means your personality traits are accented, which means bob would be very lethargic and not easily worked up. However, if Meg was a real person...

I think Mack would beat the shit out of her. But thats not saying much, cuz Bob would just be beating up a girl when all is said and done.

Now go forth having over thought an issue of minuscule importance, and get ready for the Celtics game. God bless the World Champions.

Celtics Vs Bulls Preview

The greatest first round basketball series in NBA history continues tonight at the United Center in Chicago. As a basketball fan, this has truly been an incredible series to watch and admire. As a Celtics fan, I want to put my head through a wall and throw empty beer bottles across the room. These games continue to go back and forth with neither team giving a budge. With the exception of game 3, there has not been a more even series in the playoffs. Get ready for another great one tonight.

The Bulls are young, talented, scrappy team who know they can play with the Celtics and will be pumped up tonight. The home crowd will give them even more energy and allow them to get off to a hot start. For them to win, they can't let Rondo fast-break the way we all know he can. They have to stop the ball and make the Celtics get into a half-court set. They can't allow Pierce to dominate or get beat on the boards. Perk also has to be kept in check. He killed Chicago last game, and they have to be physical with him but not get into foul trouble.

The best way for the bulls to win is to take advantage of their speed. If they defend and rebound then they can fast break and get easy dunks and jump shots. Rose can penetrate, create, and find guys on the wings. Gordon is lethal and Thomas can fly. Even though Noah looks like a pigeon-rat, he still can play ball and dunk on the Celtics. If they use the athleticism to their advantage, they can run up and down on the Celts and force a game 7. But if they allow the Celts to set up their D most of the night, it will be a long night.

The Celtics must defend and rebound. Plain and simple. They will win if they play Celtics defense and control the boards. A big reason why they have lost close games is because they have difficulty defending the pick and roll at the top of the key. Before a solid pick is even set, it seems like the guard, usually Rondo, comes off his man while the Celt's big man switches. This always creates a mismatch in which Rose and Gordon have taken advantage of. Any good offensive team can exploit mismatches. The Celtics must play tough defense and stick to their men. They should only switch when necessary, talk to each other, and rotate quickly. They also cannot give up open 3's. The Bulls' hot 3 point shooting killed them last game. Rose and Gordon will most likely have great games, but they can't allow Heinrich and Salmons to get hot. If they do, we might see another overtime game.

Offensively, Rondo has to keep doing exactly what he has been doing all series. This guy is playing out his mind and is practically averaging a triple double. Does Jason Kidd ring a bell? I used to say that Rondo has the vision of Kidd, and now he looks just as good in this series. Ray Allen is still pissed from getting 2 pussy calls on him in the 4th quarter. He had to sit out the last 10 minutes of that game, so look for him to step up and get his revenge on fag redneck Brad Miller. Perk had his best game of the series on Tuesday and I would let him take advantage of his strength and size. Ultimately, Paul Pierce needs to step up offensively and carry the load. He hasn't played up to his potential consistently. But with Garnett out, he must have the attitude of "No one can stop me tonight" It's great for him to get everyone involved, but sometimes great players need to be selfish and dominate. That's what I expect him to do tonight and the Celts will come back to Boston with a second round playoff birth.

Celtics 101-98.

Red Sox @ Rays Preview

The last time the Red Sox visited Tropicana Field, Matt Garza helped the Rays end their season. Tonight the Sox will look for some redemption as Beckett and Garza face eachother.

Beckett so far this season has been unimpressive. He is 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA, and really hasn't dominated at all other then the first start of the season. The good news is that the Rays have been struggling so far this season, and their bats (other then Pena) don't look as tough as they did last season.

I see Garza much like I see Beckett. He has the stuff to be dominant when he wants to, but he seems to string together some below par stats at times. So far this season Garza is 1-2 with a 4.97 ERA. He started off the season real hot, but over his past two starts he given up 10 runs.

I think one of these pitchers is due for a great name. my hope is that it is the Sox, but Boston could be having some trouble with their lineup as Youk might still be out with a bad back and DL Drew has been in and out of the lineup too...

Game starts at 7:08pm on NESN.

Andrew Ference Injury Update

"All signs point to Andrew Ference returning to the lineup for tomorrow's Game 1. Ference breezed through practice today without limitations and should be ready to go. "We want him to come in at 100 percent," Claude Julien said. "Nothing less. He seems pretty good. So if he's 100 percent tomorrow, he's going to be in." Steve Montador and Shane Hnidy would most likely battle for the final spot on defense (Boston.com)."

The Bruins just get deeper. It is too bad though that either Montador or Hnidy will have to sit. i really like the way both those guys have been playing, but what can you do? As Rob stated earlier the Bruins are 4-0 against Carolina this season, but the Hurricanes do seem to have some magic. Hopefully the Bruins aren't rusty and crush Carolina tomorrow at the Garden.

Who Does Like A Good Skin Graft Joke?

A married couple was in a terrible accident where the woman's face was severely burned. The doctor told the husband that they couldn't graft any skin from her body because she was too skinny. So the husband offered to donate some of his own skin.

However, the only skin on his body that the doctor felt was suitable would have to come from his buttocks. The husband and wife agreed that they would tell no one about where the skin came from, and requested that the doctor also honor their secret. After all, this was a very delicate matter.

After the surgery was completed, everyone was astounded at the woman's new beauty. She looked more beautiful than she ever had before! All her friends and relatives just went on and on about her youthful beauty! One day, she was alone with her husband, and she was overcome with emotion at his sacrifice. She said, "Dear, I just want to thank you for everything you did for me. There is no way I could ever repay you."

"My darling," he replied, "think nothing of it. I get all the thanks I need every time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek."

Sox Owners Don't Want Globe

"The owners of the Boston Red Sox are denying reports that they might try to buy the struggling Boston Globe. The team released a statement Thursday that said neither owners John Henry and Tom Werner nor any other affiliates of the Red Sox were involved in efforts to buy the newspaper. Published reports have claimed Henry was exploring a deal to take control of the Globe along with the New York Times Co.'s stake in the Red Sox. The Times Co. announced in January it wanted to sell its 17.8 percent stake in New England Sports Ventures, which owns the Red Sox, Fenway Park and other properties. The Times Co. also has threatened to shut down the Globe unless its unions agree to cut annual labor costs by $20 million (Sportsline)."

We are seeing this all over the US. The time of newspapers has passed. I honestly really don't know many people that buy it anymore. I get everything off the web, so the only people I see buying it are people who do manual labor. Eventually the Globe/Herald will fall, and everything will be through the internet. Times are changing, we are already seeing it in Seattle where a couple of their newspapers have gone to just completely online business.

Stanley Cup Preview: Conference Semis

Eastern Conference:
#1 BOSTON BRUINS vs. #6 CAROLINA HURRICANES
Bruins/Whalers, could it have been anyone else but the old Whalers? The Bruins and Hurricanes/Whalers have met 4 times in the playoffs, and the B's have come out on top each time. The B's and Canes met 4 times this season, and the B's came out on top each time (scores: 4-2, 4-2, 5-1, 5-1). BUT, the Hurricanes won 18 of 25 games after their last loss to the Bruins. They just handled the Devils' defense, and they seem to have a bit of magic and tons of momentum on their side.

But I think the Bruins matchup beautifully against this team. Bruins in 5.

#2 WASHINGTON CAPITALS vs. #4 PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
Ovechkin vs. Crosby. The NHL and Versus are drooling over this series. The Caps took 3 of 4 in the season series, and their one loss came in a shootout. Washington looked vulnerable against the Rangers, and they have an untested goalie in between the pipes. Anything is possible, but I think the Caps win a crazy series in 6 games.

But here are the Penguins lesbians:

Western Conference:
#2 DETROIT RED WINGS vs. #8 ANAHEIM DUCKS
What do the Ducks get as a reward for upsetting the Sharks? A date with the highest scoring team in the NHL. The Wings averaged 3.6 goals a game this season, and 4.5 in their sweep of Columbus. This will put the growing legend of Jonas Hiller to the test.

But the Wings do give up goals, 3.0 per game as a matter of fact, which was 12th most in the NHL. It's also the 4th most among playoff teams. This Achilles heel was partially exposed in Game 4 of their series with the Blue Jackets, when they allowed 5 goals.

Detroit won the season series 3-1, but three of the games were decided by one goal, one in OT. Anaheim presents problems for any team, but Detroit is so relentlessly deep on offense. Shut down even the top two lines, and the third and fourth will score on your defensive scrubs.

Red Wings in 6.

#3 VANCOUVER CANUCKS vs. #4 CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS
The Blackhawks will shuttle back and forth between Canada once more. Vancouver, on the other hand, has the faith of a nation on its shoulders, as the only team north of the border still in the fray.

Chicago actually had a better record than Vancouver, but the Canucks get home ice thanks to winning their division. Chicago was also 4th in the NHL in goals scored, and surrendered the 5th lowest number of goals in the NHL.

The Blackhawks split the season series, but Vancouver won the final 2 meetings by scores of 7-3 and 4-0. Nikolai Khabibulin looked great against Calgary, but he's prone to inconsistency. His age may also give in. He's started 6 games in a row for the first time all season. He only started 40 games this year. And that's where I see Vancouver, with Roberto Luongo, having a huge edge.

Canucks take this in 7 games, with multiple games going into OT.

CONN SMYTHE WATCH:

The Conn Smythe is one of the coolest trophies in sports, and most coveted in hockey. It's given to the MVP of the entire playoffs, and I wish the other sports would give awards like it. Here are the early front-runners for this prestigious trophy:

Roberto Luongo - Vancouver
4 wins, 1.16 GAA, .962 SV%, and 1 shutout in the opening round.

Evgeni Malkin - Pittsburgh
4 goals, 5 assists, 7 hits, and unlike Crosby he was consistent throughout the series, and his goals weren't "junk" goals.

Jonas Hiller - Anaheim
4-2 against the best regular season team in the NHL, 1.65 GAA, .957 SV%, 2 shutouts

Ryan Getzlaf - Anaheim
2 goals, 6 assists, +5 rating, 15 hits, 10 blocked shots, 15 PIM

Michael Ryder - Boston
3 goals, 4 assists, +5 rating, 1 GWG

Brent Seabrook - Chicago
1 goal, 5 assists, +1 rating, 24 hits, 11 blocked shots

Eric Staal - Carolina
5 goals, 2 assists, +4 rating, GWG in game 7

Conference Semis start Thursday night.

Top 15 Best Selling NBA Jerseys

Well KG has finally lost the top spot of best selling jersey in the NBA. Apparently people love rapists, so Kobe claims the top spot. Here are the top 15..

1. Bryant, Lakers
2. James, Cavs
3. Paul, Hornets
4. Garnett, Celtics
5. Allen Iverson, Pistons
6. Dwyane Wade, Heat
7. Pierce, Celtics
8. Nate Robinson, Knicks
9. Pau Gasol, Lakers
10. Dwight Howard, Magic
11. Derrick Rose, Bulls
12. Allen, Celtics
13. Steve Nash, Suns
14. Shaquille O’Neal, Suns
15. Carmelo Anthony, Nuggets

I have to say that I am surprised that Pierce sells more jerseys then Howard, Nash, Shaq, and Carmelo...I didn't think he was that popular outside of the Boston area...

Coobs Gets Pissed!

Coobs has been a reader of this site for a long time, and he recently went off on a rant that was too good not to share...

Comparing Rondo's play to Howard's is like apples to oranges.

for one, Brad Miller HAD THE BALL and was making a play to TIE THE GAME in the final seconds of OVERTIME. Rondo made a swipe at him/the ball/his head/his cock -- it doesn't matter. He had no shot of blocking the shot, and went for the foul. Look at the replay: Rondo barely misses Miller's right shoulder (the arm with the ball), which had he made contact with, nothing would be made of the whole thing. I can certainly go on more with this but it leads to my next rant...

Howard's play was completely uncalled for. Not only was it in the opening minutes of the game, but it was off a MADE SHOT...aka a DEAD BALL. it's actually pathetic that a guy the size of Howard resorts to throwing elbows at players' heads. look at the size of him -- those things are borderline weapons. if you want bias, how bout the fact that Howard only received a TECHNICAL foul and that's all, with the referee who made the call standing literally 6 feet away. that is the biggest joke of all this. had Howard been tossed as he should have, the Sixers had a great chance to steal that game 5 and then head back home with a chance to close out the series. once again the referee's provide preferential treatment to a star player who has proven nothing (see: Chris Paul) to earn it. oh, other than win a meaningless dunk contest and dub himself with a previously used nickname

FACT: Dwight Howard will never come close to the accomplishments of Shaq. He will never win a ring, let alone 4. Shaq was unstoppable, UNGUARDABLE. Howard doesn't even demand a double-team from some teams. He has close to zero offensive skills other than dunking the ball into the hoop. He is just a chiseled 7 footer who can leap, and that's pretty much it. The only "person" who can be compared to Shaq is Christopher Lambert, because there can only be one Superman//Highlander!

Zack Greinke Finally Allows A Run

For those of you who drafted Zack Greinke...good for you. This kid has had all the talent in the world, but a social anxiety disorder really was fucking with his head. He has gotten passed that, and now we are seeing all that talent that scouts were drooling over for year. You have to remember this kid is still only 25 years old! So far this season he is 5-0 and his ERA went from 0.00 to 0.50 with the run he allowed. Greinke also leads the AL in strikeouts. It is way too early to be picking Cy Youngs, but who can argue against this kid right now. I really like the Royals this year, and with Meche and Greinke it seems like they are really in line to make a playoff run this year...So much for him never living up to his potential..eh DP?

Sometimes Rap Leaves Me Speechless

This is the new dance craze:

Normally, I would disagree with this, but the fact they made a song using Ricky Bobby's dance from Talladega Nights is ok with me. I haven't been this proud since Ghost Ride It.

Saints Have A Home Until 2025

The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a lease extension that will keep the NFL team playing home games in an improved Louisiana Superdome through the 2025 season.

Benson and Jindal wanted a long-term extension in place by this spring to improve New Orleans' bid to host the 2013 Super Bowl.

This is great news for the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans in general. For a City that is constantly searching for hope, it if refreshing to know they will have their Saints until 2025. You know, if the city isn't underwater by then.

Smoltz Injury Update

"John Smoltz, recovering from shoulder surgery last June, will not throw batting practice Thursday, Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "I just think it's in his best interest to slow down for a week," Francona said after the Red Sox beat Cleveland 6-5 in 10 innings Wednesday night. "That's the best way I can put it (Sportsline)."

Not good news, but not totally unexpected. Listen Smoltz is going to take a lot of time, and the Sox need to take this very slow. With the depth in pitching that we haven't even really used yet (Bowden, Buchholz) the Sox can make it through the regular season. If Smoltz is back by July the Sox are going to be in great shape. I mean honestly this team is winning with Dice-K out, and Lester/Beckett pitching like shit. Right now they are going to let him rest a bit, and hopefully whatever is bothering him will calm down. My feeling is that Smoltz is pushing himself too hard, and the Sox want him to take it easy. I am not worried about this at all. We will keep you updated as we hear more.

LOST: The Variable

Wow. The 100th episode and it was awesome. Here is a list of some of the stuff we learned last night.

-Daniel’s mom knew his mind was meant for science and that he had a gift at a very young age

-Something happened with Daniel’s mind, he was forgetting a lot. Charles Whitmore came and gave him a chance to get his mind and memory back by going to the island

-Daniel Faraday was shot by his mother, Eloise Hawkings. The episode ended by us thinking he is dead.

-Eloise Hawkings knew she was sending her son back to the island to get killed.

-Kate, Jack, and Daniel went back to the Hostiles territory so Daniel could talk to his mom in 1977; hence Eloise Hawking was on the island

-Charles Whitmore is Daniel’s dad. (Eloise and Charles were old friends on the island)

-Daniel Faraday told Dr. Chang that he needed to evacuate every man, woman, and child on the island

-He also told Dr. Chang that he was from the future, and that Myles was his son.

-Dr. Chang didn’t believe Daniel, but maybe will next episode?

-Electromagnetic activity was unleashed in the Orchard station, killing a man.

-Daniel told Dr. Chang that this electromagnetic activity is going to be 30,000 times more powerful at the Swan station in 6 hours

-Daniel suggests to Kate and Jack that everyone has to leave the island, and someone has to leash an atomic bomb to stop everything from happening

-This electromagnetic activity at the Swan station will be the cause for everything that happens: Oceanic flight 815 crashing because Desmond didn’t push the 108-minute button, etc. etc.

-The Swan station is where the hatch was, and where the giant electromagnetic force is… causing the hatch to be there in the future

-Myles choose not to go with the others to see the hostiles… maybe he will listen to Daniel and convince his father that they are indeed from the future

-Daniel saw Charlotte as a young girl on the island again, and reminded her to leave the island and never come back

-Desmond is alive!

-Charles Whitmore and Eloise Hawkings are happy that Desmond is alive, and there is a reason for this.

-Eloise Hawkings told Penelope that she has no idea what’s going to happen next

-Sawyer called Kate ‘freckles’, Juliet noticed.

Questions:

-Was it the Oceanic 6’s destiny to come back to the island?

-Was Louise Hawkings wrong about their destiny, or was she trying to trick them?

-What is going to happen to Le Fleur/Sawyer?

-What’s going to happen to Juliet, Hurley, Jin, now that they have been made into outcasts?

-Who is Penelope’s mom?

-What is Desmond’s purpose (or destiny)?

-If they do stop the electromagnetic field, what is going to happen to the passengers that were aboard Ocean flight 815?

-What is Christian Shepard role in all of this?

-I, personally, still want to know if Claire is still alive- thoughts?

Theories:

-Eloise Hawkings sent her son Daniel back to the island because of his journal. His journal and the information in the journal needed to be on the Island.

-Daniel Faraday was born on the island.

Feel free to put you theories and/or thoughts in the comment section...

More A-Rod News

Well this A-Rod stuff keeps getting better. The reporter Selena Roberts came out with a book about Alex Rodriguez, his steroid use during high school and his personal life. If anything, I would love this, however, she uses words like "he may", "he strongly suggests", etc. I have to give A-Rod the benefit of the doubt because I cannot conclusively say this is true. If we trust "may haves", "suspected of" this blog would be just as big as ESPN. Either way, I hope the actual book is worded differently, if not,it will be just white noise.

Dwight Howard Suspended For Game 6

The Orlando Magic will be without two starters in their next playoff game after the NBA announced Wednesday that Dwight Howard has been suspended for Thursday night's Game 6 in Philadelphia.

Howard received a one-game ban for an elbow he swung at the head of 76ers center Samuel Dalembert in Tuesday's Game 5, and like teammate Courtney Lee -- who was later felled by an unintentional Howard hit -- will be absent when the 76ers try to force a Game 7 in the teams' tight first-round series. ESPN

This is perfect for the Celtics, because if the Sixers can lock up the series 3-3 without Howard, this series will be up in the air for game 7. I believe the Celtics will have an easier time defeating the Sixers than the Magic, so that was a big mistake by Howard. Do I personally agree with the decision of Howard being suspended, No. But will I take it. Yes.

Red Sox 6 Indians 5

The Red Sox seem to be the comeback kids this year. They were down 5-0 in this game after Lester struggled with his control, and really didn't look like himself until the 5th. Francona is a great job in this game sticking with Lester as long as he did. The bullpen has been overused, and they really do not have a true long reliever, so Lester had to give them at least 6 innings, and that's exactly what he did.

Boston's comeback didn't start until the 6th inning when Mike "RBI" Lowell did what he does best, which is apparently just knock in runs. Tek followed suit and knocked in another run that inning to get the lead down to 5-2. Then in the 8th the hero of game Van Every brought a run home with the bases loaded. Drew and Ellsbury kept the inning alive, and tied the game 5-5. So the game eventually makes it to extra innings, and once again it is Van Every who plays the role of hero with a solo shot. The Sox bring out Papelbon, and he answers all the injury concerns with a 2 K bottom of the 10th to get his 6th save of the season.

Boston is now tied for first place in the AL East with the Jays, which also ties them for the best record in all of the AL. All of this really surprises me, because I still feel like the Sox aren't even close to playing "their best ball". We will see what happens if guys like Ortiz, Beckett, Dice-K, and Lester start coming through...

Somebody's Gotta a Hard On for KG

It has been argued that Kevin Garnett's impact on this team is still being felt despite his inability to play a single minute in the first round series with the Bulls. He has been on the sideline for most of the games and appears to be highly involved in the game - be it encouraging his own guys or cussing up a storm to any Bull with in ear shot.

On top of that, there is no way this Celtic team wins game 5 with the guys they had on the floor had KG not been coaching them up the past two seasons. It just would not happen. That being said, it is impossible to not feel for the guy in a situation like this...unless you are a writer for Chicago area sports blogs.

From Eamonn Brennan

Anyone who's watched even a few minutes of the Bulls series these last few days has seen an injured, besuited Garnett. He gets more TV time than Doc Rivers, it seems. Every time the camera flashes to Garnett, sitting on the sideline because he's too hurt to play, Garnett is doing one of two things. He's either a) sticking his chin out in a defiant mean-mug that at this point just looks stupid, especially from SOMEONE SITTING ON THE BENCH IN A SUIT, or b) raining down a host of obscenities, usually at Bulls players.

Which, to a point, is fine. If that's how Garnett needs to re-emasculate himself, to make up for the fact that his body his breaking down and he can't get on the court this year, fine. But last night was worse than usual. Last night crossed a line. After Brad Miller missed the first of two potentially game-tying overtime free throws, Garnett took time out of his busy injured schedule to yell "choke" at Brad Miller. Classy, man. (And this is coming from us, someone you'll rarely ever see complain about "class" in sports.) There's also this photo of a snarling Garnett getting in Ben Gordon's face, the same Ben Gordon who played through his injury last night while Garnett threw on Armani and did his cheerleading from the sidelines.

Garnett's Adidas campaign slogan is, get this, "Basketball is a Brotherhood." If our brother acted like such a raging, overcompensating, confused and classless d-bag, we'd have disowned him long ago.

Safe to assume Eamonn would not have many admirers in the fine city of Boston.

107 Nuggets, 86 Hornets

Newsflash. The Hornets suck. My preseason western conference champs not only lost 4-1, but got horrifically embarrassed this whole series. Led by the so called "best" point guard in the league, the Hornets couldn't get past the first round. The Hornets were an up and down team all year, and I had high expectations going into the season, but after watching them all year. This team kinda sucked. Tyson Chandler is not the "defensive" player people say he is, Peja sucks and is washed up, and David West is very streaky. This should be an eye opener for the Hornets, and should try their hardest to move Chandler and Peja and get a dominant big man. It has been proven that a good guard and a banger underneath can win the championship. In my eyes the Hornets took a huge step back this year and I don't see a bright future ahead of them.

Red Sox @ Indians Preview

Last night was a horror show. The Sox were hitting, but a combination of poor pitching and fielding doomed the Sox to an embarrassing loss. Tonight both teams will be looking for a lot better pitching as Lester and Carmona faceoff.

Lester has turned around his season over the past two starts. He will look to keep improving tonight against a very good Indians lineup. We saw last night you give them extra outs they are certainly going to make you pay. So, the key for Lester will be to keep his walk totals low, and hope the Sox defense will play a lot better. In his career Lester is 2-0 with a 4.03 ERA against the Indians.

Carmona has been a major disappointment for the Indians thus far this season, but he is showing some signs of improvement. Last time out Carmona racked up 7 Ks over 6 innings, but also allowed 4 ER. We will see if he will be able top build off that, but the Sox need to be patient against this guy, because he has a tendency to get frustrated and walk a lot of guys. As we have seen all season when the Sox get a free pass to first they usually make the other team pay.

Look for Lowell and Bay to keep their hot streaks going against Carmona. Game starts at 7:05pm on NESN.

Judge Rules Inmate Can't Change Name to 'Sinner'

"You can't call yourself "Sinner Lawrence Bilskirnir." Court documents say Jonathan L. Thomas cited his Norse religion in seeking the name change, saying he "is a heathen and Thor is his 'High God." But Lancaster County District Judge Steve Burns says government agencies need to closely track Thomas because of his criminal record and because there are three child-support cases against him. Burns says Thomas' reasons do not satisfy the legal requirements. In his ruling, Burns says that "simply because a person is a Christian, a Jew or a Muslim, they do not change their name to Moses (FoxNews)."

HAHA, why can't he change his name? I thought I could change my name to whatever I want, but I guess not. Anyways, this guy is a scumbag, but at least he seems to have a sense of humor, but then again he pays to Thor, so he probably is 100% crazy. Still, there goes my dream of Curtis Martin actually changing his name to Curtis "My Favorite" Martin...sad day indeed.

Vlad Injury Might Be Real Serious

"How long will a torn chest muscle keep Vladimir Guerrero out of action? The Angels have said a month, but rumors are whirling that it could be much, much longer. "One Internet report (claims) the injury can knock out NFL offensive linemen for entire seasons" writes the LA Times beat writer Mike DiGiovanna (ESPN)."

The Angels are sticking with the story that he will be back in about a month, but I am not sure even if he does come back that the wild swinging Vlad will be any good. This injury is much more serious then they are reporting, and if really could take all the power out of his swing. Vlad is not a guy who is patient, and an injury like this could really take all the value of having him in your lineup up away. The Angels do not have really any option then trying to get him healthy ASAP, as the offense does not look too good without him on it. To make matters worse, Mike Scioscia has some serious problem with playing young hitters. He has given power hitting Brandon Wood little to no playing time (yes he is on my fantasy team), and if that continues I could see this being a very long season for the Angels.

Favre To Vikings?

Not many people would notice, but Brett Favre was released today by the New York Jets. He retired, so there is no real reason why he was released. When reading on further I found out that he actually asked for his release. Now this very well could be one of those moves where he just didn't want to retire a Jet, and maybe the Packers will pick him up so he can retire with the team that he will be going into the Hall of Fame with...yet still I love conspiracy theories, and I put nothing past old man Favre.

When Favre eventually wore out his welcome in Green Bay, he indicated that he really wanted to go to Minnesota. Obviously, the Packers told him to go fuck himself, and traded him as far away as possible (aka New York). Now, Favre asks for his release again, but this time he got it. He is free to look around. He has come out and stated that he is retired, and does not want to come back, but we will see how long that lasts once the season nears. The Vikings still need a QB. They have some interesting WRs. They have the defense to win the Super Bowl right now. Remember it was less then a year ago we thought Favre was retired, but is he just playing us again? Does he want one last fling? Does he want to rip apart the Packers? I don't know, but certainly something that wouldn't surprise me.

Damn I might be right...

Jason Taylor To Chiefs?

"One team whose rumored interest still lingers in spite of no official word from management is the Kansas City Chiefs. With the trio of Glenn Dorsey, Tank Tyler and Tyson Jackson ready to man the front line in the Chiefs' 3-4, Taylor could be utilized as a pure pass-rusher (ESPN)."

I must emphasize that the Chiefs so far have done nothing to indicate that they are after Taylor, but it would make a lot of sense for them to do so. With the guys they already have Taylor could be a pure pass rusher, which is exactly what he would be good for. The reason Taylor failed so bad in Washington was because they wanted him to also stuff the run. He proved he could not due so, but if you put a good defensive line in front of him he could be extremely valuable and dangerous. I hope the patriots go after this guy, because he would be a beast with the guys the pats already have on their line. We all have seen that you can have average CBs, but make them look great if you have a strong pass rush. You can also have great DBs and make them look terrible if you don't (ask the Packers). Anyways, it will be interesting to see where he goes. Taylor seems to have a hard-on for the Dolphins, so that would be my guess, but KC and the Pats have to be interesting potential destinations.

14 Year Old Stripper

"Police say a 14-year-old girl was dancing topless at an Akron strip club when they raided the bar and arrested four exotic dancers. The girl has been placed in protective custody. The bar's owner and manager were charged with illegal use of a minor in a nudity performance and child endangering (FoxNews)."

This does not surprise me in the least. People make fun of Detroit, and New Orleans, but has anyone been through Akron??? Fucking scariest place I have ever driven through. Oh yea, there was no way I was getting out of my car, or even going to a gas station in that place. It was like a fucking ghost city, except in stead of zombies, just crackheads running around. No wonder Lebron liked to pretend he is from New York instead of Akron (aka Hell on Earth).

Should Dwight Howard Be Suspended A Game?

He blatantly elbowed Samuel Dalembert and the question arises on whether he should be suspended for next game. Personally, I say fine him and let it slide, but if they suspended Amare Stoudemire for less I see the NBA suspending Howard one game.

Why Not?

Can't fucking wait!

Stanley Cup Roundup: Day 14

Versus has been running these promos about every second counting in the Stanley Cup playoffs. They couldn't have been more prohpetic Tuesday night. In 80 seconds, the Hurricanes went from elimination to advancement. In 80 seconds, the Devils went from glory to shame. In 80 seconds, the Caps went from facing the Devils to facing the Penguins, the Penguins went from facing the Bruins to facing the Caps, and the Bruins went from facing the Penguins to facing the Canes. Oh yeah, and the Rangers folded themselves out of the playoffs.

WASHINGTON CAPITALS 2, NEW YORK RANGERS 1
***Washington wins series 4-3***
From Russia with love in this one. Alexander Semin scored Washington's first goal, and veteran Sergei Fedorov tallied the game winner with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. New York's impotent offense only got 15 shots off. And although we'll remain flooded with Ovechkin talk (especially as he's against Sidney Crosby in the next round), we've finally completed the arduous task of listening to experts talk about Sean "3rd Line" Avery.

Fuck you Rangers!

Different sport, different country, different Rangers, same indifference from me. "Fuck you Rangers" means the same in every language.

CAROLINA HURRICANES 4, NEW JERSEY DEVILS 3
***Carolina wins series 4-3***
Wow! Wow! The highlights speak for themselves:

Eric Staal wins it with 32 seconds left, his 5th goal of the series. Unbelievably perfect ending to a series that started out boring and became a thriller. Good to see New Jersey go, because they're boring, and they're good.

So now here are the Eastern Conference match-ups for the next round:

#1 Boston Bruins vs. #6 Carolina Hurricanes
#2 Washington Capitals vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

Can't wait for the next round to start...

Edge Gets His Wish

The Arizona Cardinals granted running back Edgerrin James' wish to be released on Tuesday and cut two others who played significant roles in the team's run to the Super Bowl. After drafting Chris Wells int he first it seems as this was inevitable. Edgerrin James was already not happy with his role for Arizona, and now he will get the opportunity to sign with another team with perhaps a chance at a bigger role. The rumors down here are that the Saints are interested in the former U product. This would be a great signing by the Saints, and him mixed up with Reggie Bush will be a better version of the Duece/ Bush tandem.

And with that being said, here is a picture of Kim Kardashian:

9 Cleveland, 8 Boston

Sweet Job leaving Penny in.

Reason number 2 for firing.

If anyone else has anything to add feel free. Terrible job managing.

What A Night For Sports

Not sure what everyone watched, but I was flipping channels like crazy, because sports in general were unreal last night...

We will start with the NHL:

I flip the game on hoping somehow the Rangers could pull out a victory against the Capitals. It was really hard rooting for a team I fucking hate, but I did and I'll live with that. The Rangers were lucky this game wasn't 8-1 with the way they played the 3rd period. The Capitals got an amazing goal from old Sergei Fedorov, who unleashed one of the hardest wrist shots I have ever seen. There was literally nothing Lundqvist could do to save it. So with a couple mins left, I thought maybe the Rangers could get a lucky goal...nope. They couldn't even get out of their zone. It was like watching that South Park episode when the pee-wee hockey team plays the Detroit Red Wings...awful and hard to watch. So anyways, Capitals move on, and I am thinking....FUCK NOW WE HAVE TO PLAY THE PENGUINS....NO!!!!

Then this happened...

The Devils are leading 3-2 with 1 min 20 secs left. Game in the bag with Brodeur in net right?....Wrong. Carolina scores 2 goals, the last one with 32 secs left to take the Devils out of the playoffs. I am probably the only Bruins fan that actually hates the Devils more then I hate the Canadiens, so you know I was going nuts, but best of all the Bruins get to play Carolina in the next round...Bruins are 4-0 against them this year.

So, then I flip in to watch the Celtics, and am instantly depressed. They look like shit, Chicago is once again pulling shots out of their ass, and moments late Ray Allen is out of the game (fouled out). Great...So the game goes on and the Celtics and Bulls do what they have been doing this whole series, which is basically play just well enough to equal the other team, no one ever take control (other then the one game the Celtics blew them out). Boston is up 104-101, Bulls take it down the court, and play great defense until........... Tony Allen fouls Gordon while he was attempting a 3 with 28 seconds left. Closest I have come to putting my clicker through my TV. Gordon his all 3 free throws. 104-104. Pierce comes down and bails them out hitting a nice shot over John Salmons, but then Miller comes down and a foul was called on Rondo. Miller just chokes, and the Celtics cruise to a 1-6=104 win. At this point I am getting tired, but....

The Sox are still on....

Yes DP will be bitter because Francona left Penny in too long. Well if you read this site you know DP has a vendetta against Francona, and I have his back since I am so sick of seeing people run coaches out the door on overreactions to everything. Yes Grady Little should not have been fired, but that DOES NOT mean that because you made that mistake once you have to keep repeating it. Anyways...Penny got rocked (don't worry Smoltz is almost here!), and the Sox don't have a long reliever, because Dice-K is on the DL and Masterson had to take over. That leaves us with guys like Hunter Jones, who pitched very well, but really could do no more then he already did. Penny actually could have been out of that disastrous inning if Lugo did let that easy play get by him while trying to do a double play. Then later in the game he makes it worse, but not letting Ellsbury catch the ball in center. Honestly, if I didn't know better I think Lugo actually had money on the Indians. The game goes on and the Sox eventually lose, because Lopez pulls a Lugo and can't catch another easy Youk throw to 1st. I would have been pissed if the rest of the night wasn't so awesome. The Sox were due for a heart breaker, it happened.....get over it.

Great Night!

106 Celtics, 104 Bulls

Well, what else can anyone say about this series. It is the most intense series i have ever witnessed in my life. Every game for the most part goes down to the last shot and at least one overtime. If this wasn't the first round in the NBA playoffs, we would be discussing whether this is the greatest series of all time. Last nights game was no exception.

With a hobbled Ben Gordan he was still able to play the roll of the assassin, as he put in 26 points, including clutch free throws. The Bulls played a great defensive scheme against Paul Pierce until the fourth quarter and overtime. The Truth proved he still got it as he seemed to hit every clutch shot as possible. After they stopped trapping him, he dicked on John Salmons with 6 straight points in overtime including the game winner with 3 seconds left.

Rondo did his Rondo thing by scoring 28 points (including 2-2) from beyond the arc and he also had 11 assists and gobbled up 8 rebounds. He has been absolutely unstoppable with his penetration and kick out game. Ray Allen also got the short end of the stick as he was fouled out early in the fourth when he was grabbed by Brad Miller.

But the real hero of the game was Kendrick Perkins who had 16 points, 19 rebounds, 7 blocks, and get ready for this America ZERO Fouls. Perk played his best game in a Celtics uniform to date.

Either way i hope the Celtics can end this series next game, because I don't know if my heart can take it.

Celtics Vs Bulls Preview

Well a lot of this game hinges on whether Ben Gordon plays. So I am going to write this preview as if he will. The key match-up is obviously Rajon Rondo vs Derrick Rose. Rajon has been a monster of late averaging a triple double this post season, but the rookie has been holding his own too. Rajon and Baby's excellent play has made Paul Pierce's quite playoff run an afterthought. The guy who I would be looking out for tonight is John Salmons. Salmons will be the go to guy offensively with Gordon hobbled. So Paul Pierce will have his hands full guarding a great one on one player in Salmons. I would like to see Paul Pierce have one of "those" nights and become superman. Everyone else has been pulling their weight(in the starting line-up) so it would be refreshing for the Truth to bust lose. Also, I know you lost Leon Powe, but the bench needs to do something. Eddie House has vanished and everyone else sucks so far. Regardless I expect a big win at home.

Celtics 112-89

You Little Bastard You've Killed Us All!!

Red Sox @ Indians Preview

The Sox put their 11 game winning streak on the line once again against the Indians. Tonight the Sox put Brad Penny on the hill against Anthony Reyes. Reyes has not pitched bad this year, but has more walks then strikeouts, and that could really come back to haunt him against a very patient Red Sox club.

Penny has yet to lose this year, but did get lit up in 1 of his 3 starts this year. If you take that one bad start out he has pitched 12 innings allowing 5 runs. I'll be honest that I really don't know what to expect from Penny tonight. The Sox are due for a rough game, and the Indians have a lineup that can easily put up 10 runs, but yet everything seems to be clicking for the Sox.

Look for Boston to be even more patient that usual at the plate tonight. With Lugo and Ellsbury in the lineup the Sox will also be running a lot (if they can get those guys on), so if they can just get a couple of clutch hits they should be all over the scoreboard.

First pitch is at 7:05pm on NESN.

Gordon Out Tonight?

Finally it looks like the injury bug has bitten someone other then the Celtics...

"Gordon, however, did not sound so certain. The Bulls' sharpshooter took a pain-killing shot on Sunday, had swelling on Monday and said today that he is not moving well. He didn't participate in the Bulls' shootaround at Emerson College this morning. Gordon, who is treating the injury, a Grade 2 strain, with ice and electrical stimulation, said he is going to test his leg during pregame to see what he is able to do. On the possibility of playing tonight, he said, "It's still pretty bad. I don't know. I'm looking for a miracle (Boston.com)."

What a boost for the Celtics if this asshole can't play. He has been lights out this series, and just make some shots that I still don't understand. DP will have the preview later, and let you know if he is going to try and play, but right now it certainly sounds like he is not going to be much of a factor...

Steelers Release Foote

"Rumors became reality Tuesday as the Pittsburgh Steelers released starting inside linebacker Larry Foote, a seven-year veteran. It had been rumored for much of the offseason that Foote, made extraneous by the emergence of two-year veteran and former first-round pick Lawrence Timmons, would be either traded or released (ESPN)."

Foote has a lot of good football left in him. He is only 28 years old, and he just seems to never get hurt. He played all 16 games each year for the past 5 seasons. Obviously there will be teams lining up for his services, but you would have to think the Patriots will take a look at this guy. With Bruschi aging by the day, it would be nice to have some insurance, and a guy who never misses game, is used to the 3-4 defense, and has won Super Bowls sounds like a great fit to me...

Ben Sheets Talk Heating Up

"The Rangers will likely be involved again in the pursuit of free agent pitcher Ben Sheets, who had February surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow (MLB.com)."

I really like Ben Sheets and I hope he is able to come back. The Rangers had this guy signed before he failed a physical, and then had to have surgery. Still, if he is able to come back the Rangers have to be all over this guy. Texas has maybe the greatest lineup of all-time, but we all know they aren't going to go anywhere without more pitching. They have some talent in the minors, and if they could add a guy like Sheets (especially for the 2011 season) they would be that more dangerous. Other teams that are taking a look at him are Angels, Mets and Cardinals. Out of those teams you would think the Mets would have to be putting some serious thought into this, because their rotation is a mess.

Robots Attack!!!

"A Swedish robot nearly killed a man — but won't be prosecuted. English-language Swedish news Web site The Local reports that the near-fatal incident took place at a factory north of Stockholm in June 2007. A worker was about to fix a broken rock-lifting robot. He'd shut the power off, but the machine suddenly woke up and grabbed the man by the head. "The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," prosecutor Leif Johansson told the TT news agency. This week, Johansson decided not to prosecute either the company that owned the factory or its robot. Instead, the company will have to pay a $3,000 fine (FoxNews)."

Maybe the movie Terminator wasn't that far off. Eventually this is going to happen to all of us. Robots may be cool now, but we'll push it too far, then BLAM!... head crushing robots wondering the streets. Anyways, how the fuck does this got not sue the shit out of this company? I would be all over them, but then again maybe he is worried he will upset the robot...
