LETS GET REAL BOSTON
I've been doing a lot of soul searching when it comes to the Boston Celtics. For two years we've had the team to beat. We were the champs, then we were the defending champs without our best player and still taking teams for a ride. Then this year came and we were smoking teams at the beginning of the season. We had one of the greatest starts in NBA history. Then the Cavs and the Magic took over the East, Boston started losing players, then games shortly after. We coasted into the trade deadline with a losing record in 2010. We talked a bunch of shit at the trade deadline about trading Ray Allen (highest shoot percentage since the all star break) and only got Nate Robinson. Losing to the Nets put a sour cherry on top of this whole mess.
So I got to thinking...how the fuck can I walk around and say we can win it all? Well I have an answer that makes sense to me, if you don't like, you can go fuck yourself and stop reading this article right now. But if you want some good insight on why I see number 18 in my sights, please continue reading.
Lets start with the competition in the east. The Cavs, the Magic and the Hawks. The Hawks are a dangerous team. If you were going to buy an NBA team right now, it would be the Hawks. They will be champs in the next 4 years, or at least contending...but not this year. Why? They beat the Celtics 4 times. Explain that. Okay I will. Theres the regular season ...then there is the playoffs. If you don't know the difference, you don't watch basketball. I would say the two are the most different in Basketball than any other sport. Rotations become short, guys minutes go up, some players just play okay in the season, and big in the playoffs. It's a known thing. Can I explain it? No not really. It's a mental thing. So back to the Hawks. They run. And they run and they run and they run...guess what...when you run in the playoffs...you lose. Tell me the last running up tempo team to win it all? Hold on I'll wait while you think. Okay. Got an answer yet? Thats what I thought. I sent you on a wild goose chase. There is no answer. For those of you who don't understand why running teams can't win a 7 game series, it's simple. Fast break teams leave their defense out of position. Your not gonna blow teams out in the playoffs. You need to get multiple stops. So the Hawks (Leading the NBA on fast break points) don't have a playoff defense. The Celtics, Cavs and Magic all have point guards who can control the pace of the game. They slow it down, speed it up, slow it down again. Thats playoff ball, and I think the Hawks could lose in the first round. Not to mention they are young.
The Magic. They are better than the Cavs. Why? Dwight Howard can be guarded by Shaq. He's too athletic. This would be a great series, but won't happen because one of these teams will run into the Celtics and will lose. And I'm going to tell you why. Forget the regular season and all thats happened, lets look at the numbers and see why these teams won't beat the Celtics in a 7 game series. Perkins is the NBA's best defender against Dwight Howard. Thats the numbers. Dwight scores the least amount of points on Perk, has the lowest shooting percentage against the Celtics, and gets in the most foul trouble. Dwight Howard said himself that Perkins is his toughest match up in the league. I think match up will be the difference in a 7 game series, I really do. And as for the Cavs, same story for King James. His lowest scoring average is against the Celtics.
Celtics already beat the Cavs in a 7 game series.
So what makes me so sure that the Celtics are going to show up in the playoffs?
Come on people. This is a team waiting for the playoffs to start.
Q. How many finals MVP's are in the Eastern Conference and on a contender?
A 1 His name is Paul Pierce
Q Of the three teams who has the best point guard
A Celtics, Rondo
Q of the 3 teams who has the most playoff experience?
A Celtics
Q Of the three teams who has the least to lose?
A Celtics. Everyone has pretty much written them off. So they are playing with house money.
Q In the playoffs you need to win on the road....guess who has the best road record in the NBA
A. Yeah...the Celtics.
Q Who knows how to win a championship?
A This is a dumb question I'm just trying to bring home my point. Knowing how to win is huge. Cavs haven't done it, Magic haven't done it, Celtics have done it. This means something. If it comes to a last shot, who will be more poised.
Now that the East is settled lets talk about the west. I don't really give a shit about the west I just wan to look cool when i'm right in April because if you think the Lakers are coming out of the west you need to watch a Denver Nuggets game. This team is going to give people a lot of problems. But I'm afraid they can't beat the Celtics in a series either. Denver just doesn't have their killer instinct yet. But after they lose to the Celtics they will learn something about the killer instinct and in it next year. Just like the Lakers. Get your ass kicked by the Celtics, and just copy what they did. Sounds like a good plan.
Congrats Celtics...2010 nba champs
Congrats Nuggets...2011 nba champs.
P.S. I don't give a fuck about the regular season anymore. We are gonna be a 3 seed. Lets just get healthy. So don't ask be about what happened in last nights game, because my answer is it doesn't matter til April.
