Red Sox @ Rays Preview

As I said in yesterday's preview the Rays are starting to roll, and are riding a 4 game winning streak. Boston, on the other hand, seems to be finally breaking apart from all these injuries. Youk went down last night, but he says he can play today. Even with him in the lineup, tonight will be a tough one to win.

The Sox send the Wake to the mound to go against young ace David Price. Price is having a hell of a season leading the AL in wins (11) and is 2nd in ERA (2.42). To make matters worse for the Sox he is a lefty, which basically means Drew and Ortiz are completely useless. The only good news for the Sox is Youk, who has 2 homers and 5 RBIs in his last 4 games, is 4 for 6 with 2 doubles in his career against Price.

The Red Sox counter with Tim Wakefield, who allowed 2 runs and 7 hits in 8 innings in Friday's 3-2 win over Baltimore. The knuckleballer has been pitching much better lately, going 2-2 with a 3.25 ERA in his last 5 starts to lower his ERA from 6.02 to 4.96.

Still, I just can't see the Sox winning this game. They seem to be losing confidence by the day (who can blame them?), and there are just too many injuries to overcome against a pitcher like David Price.

Sox lose 5-3
Player of the Game: David Price

Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.
