It wasn't long ago that Sherrill was a productive closer. Now, he has been put on waiver by the Dodgers. No one will pick up his contract, but he does have the right to refuse assignment to the minors and become a free agent. If that is the case the Sox could gain interest.
I was to start by saying I have read no rumors that the SOx will make a run at him, but to me it makes a lot of sense. Even though Sherrill as been terrible this year (7.32 ERA) he has still been solid against lefties (.211 BA and only 1 HR in 38 ABs). That happens to be one of the Sox biggest problems. Sure this won't solve the whole bullpen problem, but at least they could throw someone out there to get lefties.
Anyways, just something I think they should take a look at.
