Bedard to Seattle

Erik Bedard was traded today to the Seattle Mariners for outfielder Adam Jones (who could be a stud), Chris Tillman, and 3 other prospects. I know some Sox fans were hoping to land Bedard, but let me tell you why this is not a bad thing, or maybe even a good thing.

FIRST this furthers the fact that Baltimore will suck for at least a few more years (which means more easy division wins).

SECOND is the fact that the Sox (even without Schilling have a solid pitching staff compared to the rest of the AL East. Buchholz (going to be a stud), Wake, Dice-K (Dave’s boy), Lester, and Beckett, are stronger than any of the other rotations. Look at the Yankees starting 5 as of right now are Wang, Pettitte, Mussina, Hughes, and Ian Kennedy (?).

THIRD reason is that this does not make Seattle a dominant team that the Sox need to watch out for. They are not very strong, and even with Bedard their rotation is nothing to get excited about. The only teams that I would be nervous about if I was the Sox (in the AL) are the Angles, Indians, and Detroit (who is stacked after the trade with Florida).

So everyone out there that is having an anxiety attack over Schilling, and the Santana/Bedard trade, cool your jets its not all bad. Let just all be little Fonzies here, and what is Fonzie? He's cool.
