Heath Miller Signs Extension
On Wednesday evening, Miiller agreed to a six-year, $35.3 million deal that includes a $12.5 million signing bonus, according a source. Miller was entering the final year of his contract and was scheduled to make around $1.8 million this season. The extension will keep him with the Steelers through the 2014 season. ESPN
This move makes me extremely happy. Heath Miller may not be the pass catch tight end that Tony Gonzalez or Kellen Winslow is, but he is a perfect fit for the Steelers. He is great at blocking, and has bailed Big Ben out numerous times as the check down receiver when he is scrambling. He is starting to have a bigger role in the offense as Miller caught 48 passes for 514 yards and three touchdowns last season. He had 47 catches in 2007. Also, with Miller signed that also takes a player off their free agency platter next year that basically includes every impact player next year.
