A's @ Red Sox Preview (UPDATED)
The Sox let one slip through their fingers last night. It is too bad, because tonight could be a though game for the Sox. Brad Penny will be facing rookie sensation Brett Anderson. The problem is you never know what you are going to get from Penny, and he is known for being bad after the All-Star break.
The good news is that Penny pitched well last time out throwing 6 1/3 scoreless innings against Baltimore. He is also 1-0 with a 1.29 in his only start vs. the A's. Still the A's counter with a left hander that is progressing by the day. Last time he faced the Sox he pitched a complete game shutout while striking out 9. So, the Sox better hope their bats show up tonight.
The Red Sox are an AL best 34-16 at home, where they are averaging 5.6 runs per game. They've totaled 26 runs in their last 4 games at Fenway against the A's.
Game starts at 7:10pm on NESN.
