"The Boston Globe reports that Tim Wakefield is now throwing from 60 feet. Manager Terry Francona said it has been going slowly, as the Sox attempt to prevent Wakefield from going backward in his recovery from a sore lower back. There is no timetable for his return (Sportsline)."
The Sox don't want to rush the old man, but it is looking more and more like the Sox need him back quickly. He was one of the Sox better pitchers in the first half, but he has suffered the last couple of years because of this bad back. I hope he is back soon, but you just never know. My guess is that he is still at least 2 weeks away from making it back.
