"The Tribune Co. and the Ricketts family have reached an agreement on the sale of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field, the Chicago Tribune is reporting on its Web site. The story quotes anonymous sources stating the two sides finalized an agreement over the weekend and sent the contract to Major League Baseball. Baseball owners must approve the deal, and because Tribune Co. is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, a court also has to approve the transaction. The story also quotes a source stating the sales price is "close" to the $900 million bid the Ricketts family tendered earlier this year. That bid won an auction for the Cubs, Wrigley Field, and a 25 percent share of Comcast SportsNet Chicago (ESPN)."
It is about time. I feel like I have been reading this story forever. Anyways, this is good for the Cubs, because they were kind of handicapped in trying to trade or pickup players, since they really didn't know what their payroll could be. Other then that who the fuck cares? Just get off my TV...
