Why The Red Sox Should Push Harder For Doc

BMack and I have one back and forth with this question of whether the Jays would actually trade within their own division, but I really think that JP Ricciardi has no other option than taking the best deal given to him, and the Sox could certainly package the best deal for Roy. Here are some reasons that getting Halladay and giving up the farm for him would be a great move. 1. He is an Ace. Anyone who watched last weeks game saw what he can do on a nightly basis. 2. He would not be a rent a player like CC was for the Brewers last year. He still has one year left on his contract, making the Sox have a ridiculous rotation for at least a year and a half. 3. At 15 mil a year, that is a pretty good bargain (I know, I can't believe I said that 15 million dollars is a bargain for anyone either.) but for a player of his caliber it is.

So what do the Sox deal for him? Penny, Bucholz, Bowden or Bard I think would suffice. With Smoltz being a lame duck, and who knows what you are going to get back with Dice K. Theo and the Sox must dig a little deeper to at least throw their names in the Halladay hat.
