Breaking News: Garnett Out For Playoffs

We all didn't want to believe it, even though the signs were there, but today it finally came out...

"In an interview this morning on Boston sports radio station WEEI, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said it was likely that Kevin Garnett would not be ready to play at all in the playoffs. "After today there's no way he can play," said Rivers, who left open the possibility his star could return at some point in the postseason but was not optimistic (Boston.com)."

Since this story had started I have been trying to be as optimistic as I can, but I think we all knew this was coming. I really hope KG doesn't try to come back again this year. He should have whatever surgery he needs, and get ready for next year. That is the best thing he can do for the Celtics at this point. The Celtics have to move on, and not be hoping and praying that KG is magically going to heal. I said it before, I don't see the Celtics getting past the 2nd round without KG, but they won't make it through the first if they don't put this behind them and move on. Who knows Pierce and Allen have the talent to go off on any given night, so the Celtics could still surprise teams... We'll have more on this story as it develops.
