Don't Expect A Game Today
"The ominous spring sky is expected hold until after Josh Beckett tosses the first pitch of the 2009 season today at 2:05 p.m. at Fenway Park. But do not expect to see the Red Sox come to bat too many times before the ground crew rolls the tarp over the infield. "The thinking here is that they may start, but the game will probably will be called," said Charlie Foley, a meteorologist with National Weather Service in Taunton. "The heavy rain is expected between 3 and 5 (Boston.com)."
To be honest I am kind of happy, because I am pissed that I am stuck at work and can't see opening day. At least now the game will be delayed, or even postponed, so there is a good shot I will see at least some of the game. Festivities kickoff at Fenway Park at 1:20 p.m, but even if they do get through the first inning the game will most likely be called.
**UPDATE**
The Boston Red Sox postponed their opening day game against the Tampa Bay Rays because of the prospect of heavy rain and high winds. The Red Sox announced that Monday's game against the defending American League champions is rescheduled for 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, which had been an off day.
