It is really amazing how good these two team are, when you sit back and think about it. Today is the 3rd game the Sox and Rays will play and they are just getting to Garza and Dice-K. Not too many other teams could be pitching these types of pitchers at this point.
Last night the Sox made a lot of mistakes in the field, and I think that is what really led to Lester's down fall. The good news is that Dice-K really doesn't let anyone hit the ball, so they shouldn't have the same problems tonight. Obviously the concern with Dice-K is his pitch count, and the number of walks he lets up.
It will be warmer today, since it is a day game, so I expect to see a little more hitting. Garza has been very good against the Sox in his career (3-1 with a 3.86 ERA), while Dice-K has been decent (2-3 with a 3.75 ERA). Dice-K will need to look out for Pena tonight, as Pena has crushed him in the past. Pena is 6-for-19 in his career against Matzusaka with two doubles, two homers and six RBIs. I was a little surprised when I read that, since Pena is really an "all or nothing" type of guy. Those types of guys usually struggle against guys like Dice-K that like to nibble around the plate.
Anyways, Boston needs to bounce back today, and the best way for them to do that is to actually have men on base when Ortiz/Pedroia/Youk are up. So basically Ellsbury needs to get his shit together....
Game is at 1:35 on NESN.
