Pitching: Kazmirs vs. Lester
Greating pitching matchup tonight as the Sox try to hold down the Rays for the 2nd straight day. Boston played extremly well yesterday (other than Ellsbury/Okajima). Today we will see a change in the Sox lineup as Baldelli will be playing right field instead of Drew.
Kazmir is 6-7 with a 3.68 ERA in 23 career starts versus the Red Sox, but has struggled the last 7 times they have played going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. So, hopefully can keep that trend going tonight. It will be interesting to see how each team does with the cold weather, as I suspect it will be a bit frosty tonight at Fenway.
Lester is 4-0 with a 3.38 ERA in seven regular season starts versus Tampa, but lost both his playoff games against the Rays last year. Lester/Dice-K were the aces for the Sox last year. My worry is that the Sox made Lester throw too many pitches last year, but so far he seems to be healthy and ready to go. We will get to see if he can build on his terrific season last year, and take up the spot as one of the best pitchers in the AL (which I think he will).
Game is at 7:10 and will be on ESPN 2 and NESN tonight.
