Stanley Cup Roundup: Day 2

Most of the Western Conference started their second seasons last night. All in all, there was some pretty good action around the NHL.

BOSTON BRUINS 4, TWATREAL CUNTADIENS 2
(Bruins lead series 1-0)
Tied 2-2 into the 3rd period, Zdeno Chara's power play goal from the point put the Bruins ahead. Then Phil Kessel's empty-netter sealed the deal. The Habs responded by crying and wetting/pooping themselves. The ice is still being cleared of that.

DETROIT RED WINGS 4, COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS 1
(Red Wings lead series 1-0)
What is a Red Wing? What is a Blue Jacket? How the hell did Chris Osgood get the First Star with 20 saves and a team of All-Stars in front of him putting up 4 goals. Seriously, Osgood is the luckiest man in the NHL to be between the pipes for that team.

CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS 3, CALGARY FLAMES 2 (OT)
(Blackhawks lead series 1-0)
12 seconds into the extra period, Martin Havlat scores the game winner. He also scored the goal that forced the overtime. Good night. Calgary still hasn't beaten Chicago this year.

ANAHEIM DUCKS 2, SAN JOSE SHARKS 0
(Ducks lead series 1-0)
On a night that featured Tim Thomas, Nikolai Khabibulin, and Evgeni Nabokov, Jonas Hiller is the best goalie of the night? Anaheim's Swiss netminder stopped all 35 shots he faced. Meanwhile, Nabokov only stopped 15 of 17. Suddenly the Sharks don't seem so scary, and the Ducks seem... dare I say... mighty?

Tonight's games:
7:00 PM - Flyers @ Penguins (PIT leads 1-0)
7:30 PM - Hurricanes @ Devils (NJ leads 1-0) - Vs.
10:00 PM - Blues @ Canucks (VAN leads 1-0) - Vs.
