Red Sox @ Rangers Preview
The Sox are going to try to avoid the sweep tonight. Boston made headlines earlier today when they picked up Adam LaRoche as an extra left handed bat, but tonight they are going to need to get the bats they have to come alive if they want to have any shot. The Yankees have taken first place from the Sox, and this could get ugly quick if the Sox don't wake up.
Tonight Boston puts Buchholz on the hill in the place of Wakefield who has been placed on the DL with a bad back. Buchholz has been amazing in AAA, and deserves a rotation spot. Now he gets his chance. Buchholz (1-0, 1.59 ERA) allowed one run and four hits over 5 2-3 innings in Friday's 4-1 win at Toronto, but the question has always been his consistency in the majors. He will be facing one of the best lineups in baseball tonight.
Texas counters with angry drunk Vicente Padilla (DP's boy). He is 7-5 with a 4.67 ERA, but did not play well last time out allowed five runs and a season-high 11 hits in a 5-3 loss to the Twins.
The key will once again be whether or not Boston can get their bats going. The Red Sox are batting .195 (25 for 128) and have scored only 8 runs during their current 4 game losing streak.
Game starts at 8:05pm on NESN.
And for good luck a pic of Buchholz's girl....
