Wakefield Goes On The DL
"The Red Sox yesterday placed Wakefield on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain, an injury that had begun to bother the knuckleballer Friday, was exacerbated by his simulated game that day, and has not improved. So Buchholz will start in Wakefield’s place tonight, on his regular turn (Boston.com)."
We reported this yesterday. Clay Buchholz will take his place in the rotation. There is no doubt in my mind that Wakefield is not really hurt. I said it before that Wake will eventually go down with a mysterious injury, and that is because the Sox know Clay is ready to go, so why not rest the Wake while they decide what they are going to do before the trade deadline. If you want to go with DP's crazy conspiracy theories then you can say that the Sox are showcasing Buchholz, but I don't believe that to be the case. i think they know he is ready and is better then the back end of the Sox current rotation.
