Twins @ Red Sox Preview
Yes this is the same post from yesterday, but the game was rained out, and neither of the pitchers changed. It will be Wake vs. Baker in Game 1, and Penny vs. Liriano Game 2.
Both the Red Sox and the Twins started the season horribly, but both have turned it around as the Twins are riding a 3 game winning streak, and the Sox are on a 5 game streak. Scott Baker will take the hill for the Twins and he did not have a good first outing off the DL (shoulder). He went 4 innings allowing 6 ERs to the Jays. Many people think he just needs to get a couple games under his belt, but he was also getting lit up when he was rehabbing in the minors, so I have my questions about his health.
Wakefield is coming off one of his best starts ever coming within five outs of his first no-hitter. We all know every time Wake takes the mound he could either pitch a gem, or get hammered, but with the way the Twins are hitting this year I think he could have another solid outing.
Boston got a lot of things going last series, and even guys like Ellsbury, and Ortiz seem to be showing signs of life. It is amazing how much better the Sox lineup looks if Ellsubry can get on base. It will be interesting to see if the Sox hitting has really turned the corner, or if it was more of just the terrible Orioles pitching...
First pitch is at 12:35 on NESN.
