"Buchholz received surprising news: His next start will be with the Boston Red Sox. Buchholz will pitch the first game of the second half Friday in Toronto, Sox manager Terry Francona said. It will be Buchholz’s first major league appearance since a drubbing at the hands of the Orioles in late August last year (Boston.com)."
This is just a spot start. Basically what Francona wants is everyone to have equal rest. He doesn't want one starter to get 10 days off while another gets 15, so Buchholz, who was set to pitch Friday in AAA will now come up and make 1 start. I will be very interested to see how Buchholz does when he comes up. It is looking more and more like he is going to be in the minors for the rest of the season (unless their is an injury), but who knows...if he has a great start maybe he can make some noise later in the year. He has been tearing up the minors and I am glad he at least gets to get a start in the majors.
